MEET MICHAEL RENTIERS
Just when you think you've seen it all.
Michael Rentiers is one of the most experienced communications professionals in the Southeast and the owner and Chief Strategist of CTA Communications Group. He leads client strategies with a deep well of historical knowledge, hands-on expertise, and an embrace of emerging technologies—keeping him at the forefront of modern communication.
This isn’t his first venture in building successful communications agencies. As President of Push Digital, Michael created and expanded multiple business verticals, transforming the agency into a nationally recognized, award-winning powerhouse. His leadership shaped divisions in issue advocacy, brand reputation, and strategic communications, while also managing high-profile crisis events for some of America’s top companies.
A proud native of Charleston, SC, Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Political Science from the University of South Carolina. His career began in politics, working on his first congressional campaign before graduating. Since then, he has masterminded numerous victorious state and federal campaigns, worked with state and national political parties, and served as a senior aide to Congressman Joe Wilson in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Michael’s expertise extends beyond politics. Recruited from Capitol Hill, he joined Moore & Van Allen—one of the Southeast’s top law firms—where he built a national public affairs practice under the mentorship of Tom Mullikin. Over the years, Michael has worked in 32 states, specializing in corporate communications, government affairs, media relations, digital strategy, and grassroots mobilization across a wide range of industries.
Never one to sit still, Michael gives back through Without Heroes, a nonprofit he founded to support homeless veterans in Columbia. He’s also an avid public speaker, writer, and adventurer, with a passion for SCUBA diving, global exploration, and the outdoors. With a remarkable journey behind him, he’s always looking ahead—crafting innovative strategies, creating winning content, and delivering results rooted in proven fundamentals.

Learning More Than How to Shape Opinions & Win PR Battles
As my career has unfolded, I haven’t just sharpened my skills—I’ve discovered more about who I am and who I want to become.
When I launched CTA, my goal was clear: to build it on the foundation of 23 years of real-world experience. But along the way, I realized something bigger—this experience hasn’t just shaped my business; it’s shaped me.
Some might say that letting work define you is a bad thing. I’ve thought about that a lot, and I disagree. Picture me in a quiet pub or a café, laptop open, deep in thought. Friends stop by, give me that look—the one that says, You're working too hard. They mean well, and I appreciate it. But they never ask the real question: Do you love what you do?
The answer? A resounding yes. This isn’t just a job—it’s part of who I am. When everything is on the line, when the clock is ticking, when the pressure is real—that’s when I feel most alive. I love thinking through the chaos, making smart decisions, and knowing I’m never out of the fight. I can’t and that’s impossible haven’t been in my vocabulary for years.
This journey has given me a front-row seat to pivotal moments—ones that define companies, careers, and lives. Working alongside exceptional people has transformed me in ways I never expected. Making decisions that impact real lives has been both humbling and exhilarating. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been shaped by these experiences, by where I come from, and by the road I’ve traveled.
Right now, the world is shifting. Change is everywhere, including in my own life and company. There’s a lot of uncertainty, plenty of negativity. But experience has taught me that with the right mindset, change leads to opportunity. And right now, I feel more energized than ever. I’m not just navigating change—I’m driving it.
We’re here on the front lines, sleeves rolled up, ready for whatever comes next. Solid leadership, smart strategy, creative thinking, and lessons learned along the way—those are the tools we carry forward. I’m excited about the path ahead, the challenges, the wins, and the ride itself. Let’s get to work.
